Ricardo J. Komotar, MD, FAANS, FACS is an international leader in pioneering strategies for brain tumor surgery and treatment. He performs nearly 700 surgical procedures each year using cutting-edge techniques that remove tumors with the least impact on the patient and their daily lives. Komotar is the Director of the University of Miami Brain Tumor Initiative, one of a select number of places in the nation offering the latest surgical approaches and pursuing new treatments through research and clinical trials.  At the University of Miami Dr. Komotar also directs Surgical Neurooncology, the Neurosurgery Residency Program, and the Surgical Neurooncology Fellowship Program.  Dr. Komotar has authored hundreds of articles and book chapters about his research, and has served as an advisor on numerous national boards, medical societies and committees. He has received numerous national and regional grants and founded and directs of the Annual Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament to benefit brain tumor research.
